Direct land passenger transport from Macau to Hong Kong Airport is on the rise, with an expected annual passengers carried of approximately 0.2 million.
According to the report, Chen Wenyu, Deputy General Manager of the cross-border land passenger transport company in Hong Kong and Macau, stated that this year the company's passenger transport growth trend is better than last year, with the 'Hong Kong-Macau Express' passenger volume increasing by about 30% annually. The seat occupancy rate on holiday routes is 70% to 80%, while on weekdays it is about 40%, basically meeting the current passenger demand.
The 'Airport City' project costs about hundreds of billions of dollars to build facilities such as yacht piers, with the airport authority bearing 30% of the expenses.
The Civil Aviation Authority announced the latest development blueprint for the 'Airport City' project yesterday (24th), planning to add multiple projects to attract high-end travelers, including the construction of a yacht terminal with immigration facilities, luxury hotels, and an air transportation fresh market. The entire project will cost approximately 100 billion yuan and is expected to be completed from 2029 to 2031. The Civil Aviation Authority revealed that 30% of the project expenses will be borne by the Civil Aviation Authority. Excluding the previously financed portion, they plan to issue bonds or refinance existing bonds by 8 to 10 billion yuan. The remaining balance will be for commercial and hotel projects, which will be invested, built, and operated by enterprises.
