On February 27, according to Gelonghui, a major union representing manufacturers in Japan stated that its members are seeking record wage increases in annual negotiations with employers, marking a preliminary sign of continued wage growth momentum in Japan. A statistics released on Thursday showed that approximately 1,416 unions under the Japan Council of Metalworkers' Union are demanding an average monthly base salary increase of 14,149 yen (approximately 94.84 USD), with negotiations expected to reach an agreement next month. This demand sets a record since the unions began tracking in 2014.
