The company was founded in March 1965, formerly known as Chongqing Heavy Vehicle Research Institute, and is a national first-class research institute. In 2001, it changed its name to Chongqing Automobile Research Institute and was transformed into a technology-based enterprise at the same time. In 2003, it was managed by the State Council's State-owned Assets Administration Commission. In 2006, it was jointly restructured with China General Technology (Group) Holdings Co., Ltd. and became its wholly-owned subsidiary. In 2007, it changed its name to the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute and was restructured as a limited liability company as a whole. The main business is automotive technical service and equipment manufacturing business. The main products include engineering and logistics vehicles, special sanitation vehicles and equipment; gas vehicles, hydrogen energy vehicle systems and components; rail vehicle transmission systems, braking systems and key components. Corporate honors: The company is a national scientific research institution, a national technological innovation demonstration enterprise, and one of the top 100 innovative enterprises in Chongqing. It has strong technological innovation capabilities and characteristic technical advantages in key technology research and development fields such as NVH engineering technology, EMC, chassis performance development, automotive aerodynamics, and intelligent connected vehicle technology research and development and testing evaluation. During the reporting period, the company received 7 national scientific research projects and 18 research projects at the Chongqing municipal level, with a total project funding of 35.385 million yuan. Approved 11 research projects within the company and allocated funding of 63.55 million yuan for the projects. It has obtained 101 national patent authorizations, including 16 invention patents. It won 1 second prize and 1 third prize for scientific and technological progress in China's automobile industry; 1 first prize and 1 second prize for scientific and technological progress in Chongqing; and 1 second prize for science and technology in China's machinery industry.
