Ericsson Gets Preliminary Win in Patent Infringement Case Against Lenovo
US Trade Commission Rules Lenovo Mobile Phones Violate Ericsson Patents
LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) smart phones have been preliminarily ruled by the USA ITC to infringe LM Ericsson Telephone patents.
The USA International Trade Commission (ITC) stated that the preliminary ruling indicates that the Smart Phones produced by Motorola Mobility, a subsidiary of LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK), infringed on the patents owned by the Swedish Communications Equipment manufacturer LM Ericsson Telephone. All ITC members will make a final ruling on LM Ericsson's accusations in April next year. If the ruling is upheld, imports of the involved Smart Phones may be banned in the USA. Earlier reports mentioned that LM Ericsson had accused three series of Smart Phones from Motorola of violating its wireless communication technology last year, and LENOVO had denied the accusations earlier.
