Oil producers expect that the tropical storm, Beryl, will have little impact on offshore oil & gas production.
On July 8th, several oil producers stated that it is expected that Tropical Storm Beril will not have much impact on US offshore oil and gas production, while some facilities have been evacuated as a precaution. The US National Hurricane Center said that Beril has been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm and is moving over the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, with maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour. According to data from the US Energy Information Administration, daily production in the US Gulf of Mexico is about 1.8 million barrels, accounting for about 14% of total US crude oil production. Chevron, one of the largest offshore oil producers in the US, stated that its operational assets are retaining normal production levels.
