The American private equity fund KKR (KKR.US) is accused of evading antitrust scrutiny.
On Tuesday, the USA filed a civil lawsuit against private equity firm KKR (KKR.US), accusing it of repeatedly contempting pre-merger antitrust review processes and having evaded at least 16 antitrust reviews for transactions between 2021 and 2022. DOJ official Doha Mekki stated that KKR was involved in issues of document omissions, alterations, and failure to report transactions, threatening the integrity of the antitrust division's investigation into its pre-merger inquiries and, in certain cases, concealing the market impact of its transactions and series of acquisitions. KKR stated that after an extensive investigation lasting nearly three years, the alleged errors found by the antitrust division are minor.
