The European Commission announced that the Visa and Mastercard will extend the cap on transaction fees for another five years.
On July 5th, Guolonghui reported that the European Commission stated on Friday that Visa and Mastercard will extend the travel card fee cap reached with the European Union antitrust regulators five years ago until 2029. In 2019, the world's largest payment network operator, Visa and Mastercard, agreed to set a 0.2% fee cap on payments made with non-European Union debit cards in stores and a 0.3% fee cap on credit card payments in order to resolve the European Union's antitrust investigation and avoid hefty fines. The fee cap was originally set to end in November of this year.
