According to the United Daily News, Micron Technology (MU.US) will invest 7 billion USD to expand its capacity in Singapore, planning to build an advanced Encapsulation factory for high-bandwidth memory (HBM), which is expected to be completed next year and begin contributing to the company's overall capacity in 2027. It is expected to create 1,400 jobs locally. Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, Chan Chun Sing, stated that the Semiconductors industry is a key sector of Singapore's advanced Manufacturing, accounting for 8% of the gross domestic product. The government will increase its investment to promote specialization in Semiconductors such as NAND flash memory and develop new areas like high-bandwidth memory.
