The United States Federal Communications Commission said on Tuesday that AT&T has agreed to pay $13 million to resolve an investigation into a data breach incident involving a cloud provider in January 2023, which affected approximately 8.9 million AT&T wireless customers. The commission stated that the fine will address the investigation into whether AT&T failed to protect its customer information, and further noted that AT&T has agreed to enhance its data management to improve the integrity of the supply chain in handling sensitive data in order to protect consumers from similar supplier data violations.
