USA Trade Commission: Pharmacies significantly raised the prices of medications for heart disease, cancer, and other conditions.
The USA Federal Trade Commission stated on Tuesday that the three major Pharmaceutical benefit management Institutions in the USA, including UnitedHealth Group (UNH.US), CVS Health (CVS.US), and Cigna (CI.US), have significantly raised the prices of some drugs at their pharmacies, including those for heart disease, cancer, and HIV. The Commission noted that from 2017 to 2022, UnitedHealth's Optum, CVS Health's CVS Caremark, and Cigna's Express Scripts raised their pharmacy prices multiple times to several tens of times, leading to net revenues exceeding the Pharmaceutical.
