On December 17, according to Reuters, Mexico's antitrust regulator Cofece stated on Monday that if Walmart's local subsidiary Walmex does not comply with a ruling prohibiting the retailer from engaging in certain practices deemed illegal, it may face a fine of up to 8% of its revenue. Cofece's statement provides more details about a ruling announced by Walmex last Friday, which required the company to pay a fine of over 93 million pesos (approximately 4.62 million dollars) due to its involvement in monopolistic behavior concerning its suppliers.
