Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (“Cathay Pacific”), together with its subsidiaries Hong Kong Express Airlines Limited (“Hong Kong Express”) and Hong Kong Huamin Airlines Limited (“Huamin Airlines”) owned a total of 238 aircraft on June 30, 2021, of which 89 were anchored outside Hong Kong, China. Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19 (the “novel coronavirus”), its companies directly connected Hong Kong, China to a total of 119 destinations in 35 countries around the world (with codeshare agreements connecting a total of 255 destinations in 54 countries), including 26 destinations in mainland China. According to the International Air Transport Association's 2020 World Air Transport Industry Statistics Report, Cathay Pacific Group is the world's eighth largest international passenger airline and the third largest international cargo airline. Cathay Pacific was founded in Hong Kong, China in 1966. Over the past 70 years, Cathay Pacific has always used Hong Kong as its home. To this day, Cathay Pacific continues to contribute to Hong Kong, China, and continues to make huge investments to develop Hong Kong, China, into a major international aviation hub. Fifty-five new aircraft will be added to the fleet in the next few years. Cathay Pacific took possession of 196 passenger and cargo aircraft on June 30, 2021. Hong Kong Express, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific, is a low-cost airline based in Hong Kong, China. It owned 28 aircraft on June 30, 2021, and provided regular flights within Asia. Huamin Airlines is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific. This all-cargo airline, which provides express delivery services, operated 14 aircraft and provided regular flights in Asia on June 30, 2021. Cathay Pacific holds 18.13 percent of the shares of Air China Limited (“Air China”). Air China is the only airline in China that flies with the national flag. In mainland China, Air China is in a leading position in providing passenger, cargo and other aviation-related services. On June 30, 2021, Cathay Pacific, together with its subsidiaries, employed more than 23,100 employees worldwide, including about 18,700 employees in Hong Kong, China. Cathay Pacific, its majority shareholder Taikoo Company Limited (“Taikoo Corporation”) and Air China's shares are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange Limited. Cathay Pacific is a founding member of the global airline alliance “One World”, whose service network covers more than 1,000 destinations around the world.
