The chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Merck Group, Bellinda, stated that the problems currently faced by Europe are not related to the recent USA elections, and issues such as how to enhance Europe's competitiveness have long existed. Some issues stem from excessive regulation, but this is not the only reason. Europe's technological lag in areas such as AI is primarily due to market fragmentation and insufficient investment. However, changes in USA policy may indeed further encourage Europe to accelerate its pace of action. Europe should enhance the efficiency of regulatory policies, develop clearer and more predictable policies, shorten regulatory timelines in data protection and other areas, and support Technology innovation rather than impose excessive restrictions.
