According to Nikkei News on November 4th, toyota motor stated that it conducted the first test flight of a 'flying taxi' in japan. The prototype was developed by Joby Aviation, a us-based startup funded by toyota. This electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft can reach a maximum speed of 320 kilometers per hour and was first showcased to the media at toyota's research and development base in Shizuoka Prefecture. In October of this year, toyota motor announced an additional investment of 0.5 billion us dollars in Joby Aviation to support the certification and commercial production of its electric flying taxi.
