On September 17th, Gelonghui | Meta Platforms announced on Tuesday that it will introduce special accounts with new privacy settings for Instagram teenage users. This is the company's latest move to restrict teenage access to harmful content on its applications under regulatory pressure. Meta said it will automatically transfer all designated accounts to teenage accounts, which are preset as private accounts. Users of such accounts can only send messages and tags through their tracked or linked accounts, and sensitivity content settings will be adjusted to the strictest available settings. Users under 16 can only do this with their parents' permission.
