Moderna has been awarded $176 million by the US Department of Health for the development of a bird flu vaccine.
On July 3rd, Guolonghui reported that the Rapid Response Partnership Program (RRPV) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services provided Moderna with a project funding of $176 million to promote the development of bird flu vaccines based on mRNA technology, especially for the highly contagious H5 influenza virus. This virus not only causes serious illness in birds, but also poses the risk of transmission to humans. Moderna stated that the agreement with RRPV covers not only the current vaccine development, but also additional options prepared for future public health threats, demonstrating the company's forward-looking layout for future challenges.
