Los Angeles County Sues Coca-Cola, PepsiCo Over Alleged Plastic Pollution
Los Angeles County sues Pepsi and coca-cola over plastics pollution problem.
On October 31st, the United States Los Angeles County sued beverage producers pepsico and coca-cola, accusing them of polluting the most populous county in the USA with plastic bottles, and misleading the public on the environmental impact and recyclability of their containers. The county, in a lawsuit filed on Wednesday in the Los Angeles Superior Court, stated that these companies, knowing that the plastic in plastic bottles cannot be recycled, still did so, and the scale of recycling is insufficient to offset the harm caused by plastic bottles to the environment. The county believes that the plastic pollution caused by the products produced by the two companies has constituted a public nuisance and must be compelled to correct it.
